9/24/2009 Life with SIPA, Columbia University I always hold the belief that, people should do things not out of obligation, but out of interest. That is to say, in this specific case of myself, I chose to come back to school because I was driven by the desire of grasping more knowledge, rather than by some pressure from whatever source (parents' expectation, future career concerns, etc.). And this solely almost guarantees my two-year study at Columbia University an enjoyable one. - How lucky I am, don't you think? I am pretty sure that a big number (at least, as far as I know, a considerable proportion of my fellow countrymen) would declare that they do not have such luxury of choice. Yet, I recently just found something that I do not have much choice in: since I select this course called "Tubes, Code and Content: Creating Media in our Digital Age", for this whole semester I have to give up my mother tongue and start using English in writing my blog~ Oh-my-God! Though my major was English back to undergraduate days, I still do not think I am good enough to write "mature" articles in the language. In fact, "baby English" was the comment once I got from my senior colleague...... Anyway, I decide to hope for the best. Who knows? Perhaps after three months, I would find that not only can I accumulate hands-on experience on using the most trendy digital media tools, but also I am able to improve my writing skills in English as a "side effect"!
